The Venice of the North, declared World Heritage by Unesco, heroic city for the former Soviet union, Capital of Russia for over two centuries, birthplace of Russian literature from Gogol to Dostoevsky, St. Petersburg is an extraordinary city filled with history, art and culture. Founded in 1703 by Peter The Great who commissioned the greatest Italian and French architects to create a "window to Europe" St. Petersburg now displays the most typical Russian traditions in a unique and fascinating European setting.

The Nevsky Hotel Grand immediately introduces visitors to St. Petersburg: a stroll on Nevsky Prospect towards the Neva, St. Petersburg's large river, brings visitors to the city's most beautiful and celebrated monuments: the magical Kazan Cathedral, the illustrious Stroganov palace, the sumptuous Admiral Palace where St. Petersburg tow most beautiful squares meet: Decembrists Square and Palace Square.
The latter is the splendid heart of St. Petersburg: bordered by the Winter Palace, royal palace and residence of the tsars for two centuries and now housing the lavish Hermitage Museum.

Following in the footsteps of Dostoevsky, Gogol and Tchaikovsky just to name a few of the greats who lived on Nevsky Prospect, visitors arrive at the Church of the Savior on Spilled Blood, in typical Russian style, and the immense Public Library. Crossing the magnificent squares and palaces from Peter The First and Catherine the Great's eras, Nevsky Prospect ends in Alexander Nevsky square in front of the imposing Holy Trinity Russian orthodox monastery.

Also worth a visit in the city are the parks and historical residences, St. Issac's cathedral, the Summer Palace and the intriguing Russian Museum. On the city's outskirts, the tsar's splendid palaces and the Peter and Paul Fortress can't be missed when staying at a hotel in St. Petersburg: Tsarskoe Selo, the Tsarist village with the glorious imperial residences including the incredible Catherine Palace, Peterhof, the new Versailles and the Pavlosk Imperial Palace are a must on your visit.

The White nights between June and July when the summer solstice lights up the night enlivened by the many restaurants, clubs and celebrated opera and ballet theaters and the attraction of the bridges drawn and lowered across the Neva are unforgettable moments during your vacation at the Nevsky Hotel Grand, one of the best 3-star hotels in St. Petersburg.
